‘Cares for Kids’ Radiothon 2022: A Record-Breaking Year!

by | Mar 14, 2022

Binnie Media’s 17th annual Cares for Kids Radiothon was one for the record books!  The Radiothon helps raise funds for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center (BBCH).  This year’s donation total was just under half a million dollars.

This year’s Radiothon aired on Binnie Media Maine’s 107.5 Frank FM, 99.9 & 99.3 The Wolf stations, Thursday March 10 through Saturday, March 12th.  The Binnie Media Maine on-air personalities devoted thirty-five continuous live hours of programming to the cause.  Part of this time was spent sharing moving stories from BBCH patients past and present, doctors, and nurses.

BBCH is Maine’s only full-service children’s hospital, so every dollar donated to the Radiothon directly benefits local Maine families.  Funding from events like the Radiothon support BBCH in a variety of ways, from expansion of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to toys and games for patients.

“It’s difficult to put into words the gratitude that we feel for the Binnie team,” said Kate Richardson, Philanthropy Manager at BBCH.  “I can think of no better way of demonstrating the power of community than this event.  An AMAZING $473,491 was raised…and will undoubtedly make a lifesaving difference in the year ahead.”

The Cares for Kids Radiothon also provides a key opportunity for local businesses to make a positive, life-changing difference right here in their community.  Special thanks to all of this year’s sponsors and donors who helped BBCH and Binnie Media hold the most successful Cares for Kids Radiothon in history!
