Each year around the holidays, 106.3 The Bone presses pause on the funny business — at least for one day — and uses the reach of radio to do some good through the Free Beer & Hot Wings / 106.3 The Bone Holiday Break-In. This annual tradition quietly supports local families who could use a little extra help during one of the busiest and most stressful times of the year.

This effort is not about contests, prizes, or recognition. It’s about showing up anonymously for families who work hard, give back to others, and rarely ask for help themselves. Families are nominated by members of the community who see firsthand the quiet strength, generosity, and resilience of those around them. Each nomination is reviewed with care, ensuring support is provided while fully protecting the family’s privacy.

Once a recipient is chosen, the “Break-In” planning begins. With the help of the nominator, Bone staff make a list, check it twice, and shop until the carts are full — making sure every member of the family is thoughtfully cared for. On the morning of December 19, the Holiday Break-In was successfully carried out.

Shopping funds were provided by generous sponsors and local businesses, including Phil’s Foreign Auto, Eldredge Lumber & Hardware, and The Longfellow Hotel.

Over the years, the Holiday Break-In has become a powerful reminder of what the season is truly about: neighbors helping neighbors, kindness without conditions, and giving without expecting anything in return. Behind the scenes, staff members come together to organize, wrap, and coordinate these moments of support — always with respect for the anonymity and dignity of the families involved.
